   Installing the Windows Audio Drivers
   ====================================

   The Sound Galaxy Basic 16 package includes several Windows 3.1 audio
   drivers. These drivers include:

   1.	Aztech Sound Galaxy Basic 16 Auxiliary Driver

   2.	Aztech Sound Galaxy Basic 16 FM Synthesis Driver

   3.	Aztech Sound Galaxy Basic 16 Wave/MIDI Driver

   4.	Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver (undocumented)

   The first three Windows drivers HAVE been automatically installed for
   you (by default) during the installation of your sound card's software.
   Refer to the user's manual for more information on these drivers (see
   Appendix D.2 - Windows Audio Drivers).

   However, if you are using your Sound Galaxy Basic 16 sound card to run
   Microsoft Windows Sound System (WSS) software (Version 2.0), you MUST
   install the last driver, Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver,
   shown above.

   The Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver allows you to playback
   WAV files, and control the relative volume of the audio source between
   an auxiliary audio device (e.g., CD-ROM drive or microphone) and your
   Microsoft WSS applications. In addition, this driver lets you perform
   synthesizing operation on MIDI files using frequency modulation. As a
   result, you can generate synthesized music.

   Note that you need to remove the first three drivers prior to installing
   the Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver. For more information on
   removing and installing audio drivers in Windows, refer to your Windows
   User's Guide.

   After you have installed the Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver,
   you may modify its MIDI Mapper configuration file:

   1.	Copy the Sound Galaxy Basic 16 WSS Compatible Driver, MIDIMAP.WSS,
	to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub-directory.

   2.	You may wish to make a backup copy of the ORIGNAL MIDI Mapper
	configuration file, MIDIMAP.CFG.

   3.	Rename the MIDIMAP.WSS to MIDIMAP.CFG.

   If you wish to re-install the original Windows drivers, you must first
   remove the following statement:

   Device=Vsgb16ss.386

   from the [386Enh] section in SYSTEM.INI (C:\WINDOWS directory).
