The Orchid EGA supported the standard 640 x 350 in 16 colours from a palette of 64, with full backward-compatibility to MDA, CGA and Hercules standards. The EGA BIOS was claimed to be 300% faster than the IBM EGA one.

I have no information on the various board revisions on the Orchid EGA card.
Competition
In 1986, competition wasn't huge, though some prominent companies were producing competitive graphics offerings to IBM's standard cards that were much more expensive, including Paradise Systems and Boca Research.
