DOS Days

Compaq Portables

Introduction

From the early days of the IBM PC, Compaq Computer Corp. rose to become a market leader both in the desktop space and in the portable/laptop/notebook space. They were headquartered in Harris County, TX.

This page summarises their portable PC range chronologically. Links are also provided where dedicated pages exist for that model range. The dates are introduction dates and in many cases they were still being sold 5 or 6 years after these dates. The specifications were base model specs with no upgrades/peripherals added.

Compaq merged with HP in 2002, with the Compaq brand continuing to be used for many years due to its recognition for quality in the industry.
