Introduction
============

This guide contains the information you need to install our
Windows 95 drivers and tools for your Hercules product.

Running the SETUP Program
=========================

If you received this software release on diskettes, you'll find the
SETUP.EXE program on Disk 1 of our Windows 95 Driver and Utilities
diskettes -- the very same diskette that contains this README.TXT
file. If you've downloaded our software from one of our online
services, you'll find the SETUP.EXE in the archive -- it will be in
the same directory as is this README.TXT file.

To install the driver and utilities, just run our SETUP.EXE program.
If you run it from the task bar, make sure you type the entire path to
the directory that contains SETUP.EXE. Otherwise, you might
accidentally launch somebody else's setup program.

SETUP.EXE can install the Power Drive driver, our new Touch 95<tm> and
Hercules Entertainment Center<tm> utilities, or both. To
automatically install everything, choose the "Typical" option when
using Setup's "wizard" installation interface. There's nothing more
to do!

What's New In This Release
==========================

1.  Updated 3DFX 3D driver.

2.  Updated 3DFX GLIDE2X.DLL for game support.

Known Limitations
=================

1. Some games may do hardware calls to IRQ 9 to control the video.
    This board does not support IRQ 9, so these games may not
    work correctly.

2. The Alliance AT3D chip is not recognized at this time by Windows 95's
    or Windows NT 4.0's Plug and Play feature. If the board is
    physically removed and then replaced, a reselection of the video
    driver through Display Properties may be required.

3. AVI playback may result in some "noise" being displayed on the screen
    in both 8-bit and 32-bit modes. This is not common to all system
    configurations so you may not experience any problems.

4.  With a Direct3D application running in a WINDOW in 1280x1024 at 16bpp,
    you may have "dropped" pixels or artifacts. This should not happen
    when running in a full-screen Direct3D session.

5.  With a Direct3D application running in a WINDOW in 1024x768x16bpp at
    120Hz, you may have some noise on that Direct3D window and desktop.

Hercules is on an aggressive schedule to provide solutions to known
limitations whenever possible. If you encounter a problem, please
contact us to ensure that you are using the latest software.
