The TGUI96xx were 64-bit "GUI and video accelerators", supporting FPM or EDO DRAM memory from as fast as 45ns down to 80ns on a 64-bit bus. At its fastest they could drive the memory at 80 MHz. This may be incorrect, but I think Trident's name for the core architecture on which the 96xx series is built is called XGi.
They were typically coupled to an external 24-bit TrueColor DAC that ran at 135 MHz.
The TGUI9660 supported WRAM (window RAM).
The TGUI9680 supported resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 in 256 colours, 1024 x 768 in 64,000 colours, or 800 x 600 in 16.7 million colours.
The TGUI9680-1 was a low-power version of the TGUI9680, but also added acceleration for Cinepak, Indeo and MPEG CODEC standards.
