STB SoundRage 32 / SoundRage 32 3D
The SoundRage 32 was a much improved clone of the Advanced Gravis UltraSound 32 - primarily because unlike the GUS32 it came with full Ad Lib and Sound Blaster compatibility, plus an MPU-401 interface and Windows Sound System compatibility

STB Systems Expands Its Multimedia Offerings With The Release of ActionTV and Sound Rage32 3D Add-On Cards
Richardson, Texas November 13 , 1995 —STB® Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-STBI) has introduced a pair of innovative add-on cards which bring impressive new levels of sound and television video action to the personal computer screen.
STB’s newest products -- the ActionTV television tuner adapter card and the Sound Rage32 3D stereo sound card -- give PC users impressive new video and sound performance capabilities at highly affordable prices. STB Systems, a leading developer of video and graphics adapters used primarily in IBM-compatible PC’s, will demonstrate both Sound Rage32 3D and ActionTV cards at COMDEX ‘95, Booth L262.
ActionTV
The new ActionTV add-on card from STB allows input from cable television or VHF/UHF reception to be displayed directly on an IBM PC-compatible computer screen. Designed to interface with current popular video enabled chipsets from Cirrus Logic and S3 and future video enabled chipsets as they become available. Users can easily change the size of the video window or position it anywhere on the PC screen. The ActionTV card also incorporates closed caption display, European Teletex display and stereo support output for CD-quality sound.
A simple point-and-click control panel gives the user fingertip access to TV channel selection, volume, base/treble, picture resolution and other variables. S-Video and composite video ports also support video camera and VCR interfaces. ActionTV is ready for US and European sales supporting NTSC, PAL and SECAM video formats. The ActionTV card includes complete user interface software, device drivers and installation software.
Sound Rage32 3D
STB’s Sound Rage32 3D sound card uses Advanced Micro Devices’ InterWave digital Wavetable synthesis microprocessor to deliver truly exceptional sound quality at a surprisingly low cost. Sound Rage32 3D produces CD-quality 16-bit, four to 44.1 KHz stereo sound and sampling performance with a signal to noise ratio of > 80 dB. Sound Rage32 3D uses a familiar home- stereo control layout Voyetra Technologies to turn any 386 or higher PC into a fully-featured and easy to use audio studio workstation.
Sound Rage32 3D enables the PC user to mix multiple source recordings, compile CD playlists and input Karaoke with recorded audio. This new audio card offers compatibility with DOS and Windows 95 applications, Sound Blaster™ applications, and MT-32 MIDI applications. The card provides jumperless installation with MS Plug-and-Play convenience. STB also supports the Sound Rage32 3D stereo sound card with a powerful family of utilities, including language support for French, German, Spanish and Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Swedish.
“We are proud to continue the tradition of developing award-winning products. This is a very exciting opportunity for both STB and AMD. By integrating AMD’s single chip design in our multimedia products, it will allow STB to offer not only incredible functionality, such as 3D Stereo Audio from Spatializer®, but we can stay in line with our customers’ cost objectives,” said Shane Long, vice president of STB’s sales and marketing.
"FM synthesis is simply inadequate for the demands of emerging multimedia and Windows 95- based applications, which now require a high-performance wavetable solution like the InterWave chip," said Bob Krueger, vice president of AMD's I/O and Network Products Division. "It is exciting to see an innovator like STB Systems using InterWave in their Sound Rage32 3D line to deliver the ultimate multimedia experience at a breakthrough price point."
